Eucor launches new seed money call for innovative projects!

On April 3, 2025, Eucor – The European Campus announced the renewed call for proposals for the Seed Money program. This program offers financial support for innovative cross-border projects that bring together teachers and researchers from at least two member universities from two different countries. Applications for the funding are possible until September 8, 2025. The selected projects will receive up to 60,000 euros, with funding starting on February 1, 2026 at the earliest.

The Seed Money program aims to promote exchange and networking among academics. A total of 300,000 euros are available annually for this purpose, distributed across two funding lines: “Teaching” and “Research, Innovation and Transfer”. The maximum funding amount per project is 60,000 euros. Since the first call in 2017, 65 projects have already been successfully funded, with the first projects being completed in 2019, as [uni-freiburg.de] reports.

Funding conditions and objectives

Only consortia that include at least two Eucor member universities and come from at least two countries are eligible to apply. Furthermore, the projects must do without prior national or international funding. The Seed Money program was initiated to intensify cooperation between Eucor member institutions and to realize innovative educational and research ideas, which [eucor-uni.com] makes clear.

The successful exchange within the program framework is part of a larger strategy promoted by the European Commission. This strategy emphasizes the importance of universities in solving European challenges such as climate change and digitalization. In this context, the Commission has also launched calls for projects for joint European degrees and new forms of cooperation, as [eucor-uni.org] highlights.

Eucor and international cooperation

Eucor is not only part of the national university system, but also acts as an associated partner in the European University Alliance ECIU. This alliance includes 13 universities and is aimed at developing common European degrees. The pilot project “European Statute for ECIU University” (ESEU) examines the legal form of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) and evaluates Eucor’s experiences since 2016. Participation in such projects demonstrates Eucor's experience in acquiring third-party funding and managing funding.

With the Seed Money program, Eucor not only supports individual projects, but also actively contributes to the creation of a dynamic network among the participating universities. This network is essential for the further development of European higher education and research.
