Children's University Research Day in Tübingen: Experiment and discover!

On Saturday, July 5, 2025, the University of Tübingen the Children's University Research Day takes place. This event is aimed at children aged seven to twelve and offers a variety of exciting activities designed to encourage interest in science and research.

Registration for the Children's University Research Day is essential and runs from June 24th, 7:00 p.m. to July 3rd, 2025. It is important that parents register their child online, as registrations by email or telephone will not be accepted. The necessary information includes the child's name, age and a telephone number in case of emergencies.

Insights into the activities

The research day is supported by various departments at the university. Activities include but are not limited to:

  • Experimentieren im Labor
  • Workshops zu Forschungsbereichen wie Sommerwiese, Mini-Organe und Mathematik

Departments such as ancient oriental philology, astronomy, biology, chemistry, medical faculties and many more are involved, enabling children to get to know the diversity of science.

A lecture by Carsten Schuffert and Professor Dr. Susanne will be Marschall. This event addresses why dinosaurs roar so beautifully in the cinema. Such events aim to stimulate children's interest in scientific topics and provide them with an interactive experience.

Additional lectures and educational initiatives

Even before the research day, there were various lectures as part of the Tübingen Children's University. On April 29, 2025, Dr. Chris Baumann on wild animals in cities, followed by other topics such as the expansion of the USA in the 19th century and the influence of climate on weather phenomena.

Such events are not only intended to impart knowledge, but also to promote courage, creativity and a sense of responsibility in education. This happens in the context of growing educational inequality, which many young people feel affected by.
