University festival at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences: research, celebration and fun!
On August 25, 2025, the University of Mannheim invites you to this year's university festival. The event is intended to offer urban society the opportunity to engage in direct exchange and bring current research projects to life. Admission begins at 4:00 p.m., while the program starts at 4:30 p.m. Entry is free; the Schneckenhofparty offers a ticket for 8 euros. Detailed information and ticket reservations are available on the university website: www.uni-mannheim.de/uni-fest.
The Uni-Fest program offers a variety of activities for all age groups. The children's university begins at 4:30 p.m., with doctoral student Annika Frank giving an introduction to the world of comics. In addition to this event, visitors can expect an interactive science program involving various chairs, including a chatbot for psychological conversations. The “ExpressWISSEN” series follows at 5:00 p.m., in which experts discuss topics such as party competition and deepfake in short conversations.
Diverse program items and interactive formats
One of the highlight formats is the “Science Marathon”, which takes place at 5:30 p.m. with keynote speeches from renowned professors from the university. The program concludes with the “Thirst for Knowledge”, a bar discussion with Prof. Dr. Heiko Paulheim, who talks about the risks and side effects of artificial intelligence. There is also an accompanying musical program with performances by young pop and rock bands that underlines these creative moments.
The exhibitions in the east wing of the palace, including works by artist Ariane Hagl and the 2025 graduate photo competition, offer additional cultural insights. A talk with former Olympians who were recipients of the top sports scholarship provides interesting perspectives on competitive sport. Sports activities such as goal wall shooting and couple dancing are also on the agenda, supplemented by entertaining improv theater from the university theater.
A food court in the Stiler Hof provides culinary delights, while various bars in the east wing provide refreshments. From 9:00 p.m. the “SWR GoesClubbing Party” continues in the Schneckenhof, where DJ D White will provide musical entertainment until 3:00 a.m. The college atmosphere is underlined by the opportunity to experience the Uni-Fest as a replacement for the traditional Castle Festival, which is not taking place this year due to financial constraints.
Welcome to the freshmen and contact information
Another central point of the university festival is the welcome of the first semester students. This will be held at 8:30 p.m. by Rector Prof. Dr. Thomas Fetzer, Mayor Christian Specht, AStA chairwoman Mira Tripp and Paul Horn performed on the stage in the Schneckenhof. The university’s event managers are available to answer any questions or provide further information.
