The introductory week for new first-year students began at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education on April 18, 2025. Rector Sabla-Dimitrov welcomed the new students and emphasized the central role of the university in this special anniversary year. The student representatives, including the student self-government AStA, the student parliament and the Matrikü(h)l Café, also prepared a warm welcome.
The first mayor, Christian Baron, took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of educational work in the region and to wish the new students much success. In the first days of the introductory week, the newcomers not only received organizational information, but also strategic impulses and an introduction to their subjects of study.
Program of the introductory week
The introductory week program was extensive and offered numerous opportunities for networking and orientation. It included mentoring groups, curriculum consultations and open exchange opportunities. A popular event was the campus tour, during which students discovered important places at the university. The first day of the week ended with a city tour of Schwäbisch Gmünd, followed by a champagne reception in the town hall, to which Mayor Richard Arnold invited.
For new students, enrolling at PH Schwäbisch Gmünd is a crucial step in securing their place at university. Enrollment takes place online via the Online application portal. After completing online enrollment, students must print out an application as a PDF, sign it and send it to the university by post. The address for shipping is:

The deadline for enrollment is stated in the admission letter and represents a cut-off period. It is important that the receipt of the application at the university is decisive, not the date of the postmark. If there are important reasons for not meeting the deadline, students should contact the student office in good time.
Dates and deadlines for the winter semester 2025/26
There are some important dates for the coming winter semester 2025/26:
- 4. August 2025: Bescheide für B.A. Lehramt Grundschule im Online-Bewerbungsportal.
- Immatrikulation bis 22. August 2025.
- Nachrückverfahren: Bescheide nach der Immatrikulationsfrist des Hauptverfahrens.
- Zulassungen in zulassungsfreien Studiengängen ab 15. Juni 2025.
The following deadlines apply to master's programs:
- 23. Juni 2025: Bescheide für Lehramts-Masterstudiengänge im Online-Bewerbungsportal.
- Immatrikulation bis 18. Juli 2025.
- Nachrückverfahren: Bescheide nach der Immatrikulationsfrist des Hauptverfahrens.
- Bescheide für nichtlehramtsbezogene Masterstudiengänge voraussichtlich in Kalenderwoche 32.
- Immatrikulation bis 22. August 2025.
In order to gain access to the campus portal for study certificates, all documents must be complete and the semester fee must be paid. It is advisable to contact the relevant department before starting your studies in order to determine any work that you may need to catch up on.
For those interested in the courses on offer, there is further information on how to apply. The Application portal for the winter semester 2025/26 will not be available from Friday, April 4th, 2025 to Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025. During this time, registration, adjustment of data and download of notifications are not possible. The application phase starts on April 28, 2025 at 9:00 a.m., and applications can be submitted via the Hochschulstart platform.
