Erlangen in election fever: Who will be the new direct candidate?
The federal election is just around the corner on March 9th, 2025 and will take place on February 23rd. Organized by funklust e.V., Jolanda Petersen and Janno Reincke moderated the event.
The direct candidates were Martina Stamm-Fibich from the SPD, Dr. Konrad Körner from the CSU, Paulus Guter from Alliance 90/The Greens, Leif Erik Persson from the FDP, Lukas Eitel from Die Linke and Axel Rogner from the Free Voters. The representatives of the AfD were not invited because no direct candidacy had been announced by the deadline. Robert Aust is currently running for the AfD.
Election program and variety of topics

Many voters are currently undecided, which makes short-term decisions likely. An analysis of the election programs of the parties represented shows major differences in length and thematic focus.
The election programs vary greatly. For example, the AfD has a 177-page program, while the Greens' preliminary program is 126 pages. In contrast, the program of Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) is 45 pages. Topics such as family policy, economic policy and climate protection are of particular interest to voters daily news emphasizes that these issues are weighted differently in the parties' programs.
Technical and creative aspects of the panel discussion
The technical implementation of the panel discussion was broadly based, with Felix Leipnitz as technical director and directed by Lisa-Marie Guja. Several camera teams covered the event, including Aliaksandr Bylchynski and Anouk Chaudhri. The media production placed great emphasis on comprehensive reporting, which was supported by a well-organized editorial team, including Barbara Müller and Jacob Donath.
In addition to the candidates, a How To: Federal Election was also made available to the audience, which provides voters with orientation. The analysis of the election programs of the parties presented, as well as the AfD, Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht and Volt, will be available shortly.
The election not only brings with it a strong field of candidates, but also a variety of issues that could determine the future direction of the country. The event in Erlangen was a step towards informed voters who can choose the direct candidates that are right for them.
