Concert highlights in July: From Bach to Jazz in Bamberg!

On July 12, 2025, the city of Bamberg is expecting a musical highlight: the end-of-semester concert entitled “Himmelwärts” will take place in the renowned Bamberg concert hall, in the Joseph Keilberth Hall. This event will bring together the university orchestras, the university choir and the university orchestra, to present a diverse program. The concert begins at 8 p.m. and offers visitors an extraordinary musical experience.

The main work of the evening is the Concerto for Organ and Orchestra by Paul Richter, which will be performed in this form for the first time in Bamberg. The soloist will be Balázs Szabó, professor of organ at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. The concert also includes works by classical composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Olivier Messiaen as well as contemporary pieces by Leonard Bernstein and John Rutter.

Just one day later, on July 13, 2025, a jazz matinee will take place in the ERBA's Irmler Music Hall. This event begins at 12 p.m. and is provided with music by the university big band and various jazz combos.
