Lindau Nobel Conference 2025: Young researchers meet economic legends!
Seraphin Schwarzbauer and Terhemen Agabo, research assistants at the Faculty of Economics at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, took part in the 8th Lindau Nobel Conference in Economics from August 26th to 30th. These prestigious events provide a platform for exchange between Nobel Prize winners and young researchers to share ideas and research results. The conference took place in the Inselhalle Lindau and offered an excellent opportunity for young scientists to network with leading minds in their field.
Since 1951, Lindau has been a well-known location for top scientific meetings in the fields of chemistry, physics, medicine and economics. Agabo describes his time in Lindau as a “life-changing experience,” while Schwarzbauer emphasizes the importance of understanding different approaches, cultures and experiences for one’s research.
Diverse program content
The conference program included panel discussions, lectures, sports sessions and even a trip to the flower island of Mainau. Agabo took the opportunity to talk to Nobel Prize winners such as Prof. Daniel McFadden and Prof. Oliver Hart. Schwarzbauer, on the other hand, discussed beer foam with Nobel Prize winner James Heckman and had discussions with Philip Dybvig.
The Nobel Prize winners' presentations were particularly valuable to Agabo, and the exchanges with other young scientists made his experience even more enriching. Both participants hope for future collaborations with other participants they met during the conference.
Strong community and connections
A particularly notable aspect of the conference was the strong sense of community among the participants. The possibility of making lasting connections was discussed by many. Both Schwarzbauer and Agabo experienced how important exchange is in an international context in order to understand different perspectives and approaches.
The Lindau Conference of Economic Sciences takes place every three years, and young economists will also have the opportunity to get in touch with Nobel Prize winners in Lindau in 2025. We recommend using public transport to get to the Inselhalle, as the Lindau Insel train station is within walking distance of the event. Paid parking spaces are also available.
The 8th Lindau Conference of Economics was another example of the lasting influence of such events on the academic community, which extends far beyond the days of the conference ku.de reported. Additional information about the event and its organization can be found on the official website Lindau Island Hall.
