The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has once again demonstrated its leading position in the global university comparison. According to a report by TUM The university ranks first in the “THE University Impact Ranking” in the Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure category. The Times Higher Education (THE) ranking assesses the contribution of universities to sustainably effective innovations. Another top score

The THE Impact Ranking is not only an indicator of research competence, but also refers to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Over 2,152 universities from 125 countries took part in the current ranking, which represents an increase of 561 participants compared to the previous year. Even though no German institution reached the top 100 in the overall ranking, several German universities were able to score points in the SDG 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure” category. Eight universities, including five German ones, share first place in this area.
TUM, which currently has over 600 professors, 45,000 students and 11,000 employees, is present not only nationally but also internationally through its TUM Asia campus in Singapore and offices in several major cities. The university's historical achievement is highlighted by the success of well-known researchers such as Rudolf Diesel and Carl von Linde, who made significant contributions in their time.
