TUM shines in the university rankings: students are thrilled!

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) once again receives excellent ratings in the current university rankings from the CHE (Center for University Development). In a comprehensive survey, around 120,000 students were asked about their satisfaction with their studies at various universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The result confirms the high quality of studies at TUM, which is particularly popular in the areas of architecture, civil engineering, electrical and information technology, mechanical engineering and environmental engineering.

According to the results, TUM consistently receives four to four and a half stars in the “general study situation” category. This is also reflected in the ratings for the courses offered, the support provided by teachers and the organization of the studies. The students not only praise the academic support, but are also very satisfied with the IT infrastructure and library equipment, which further underlines the quality of the studies. In previous rankings, TUM was able to achieve high ratings in subjects such as natural sciences, medicine, computer science, mathematics, social sciences, sports science, business administration and business information technology, which signals the continuity of educational quality.

University comparison and student satisfaction

The ranking published in the new ZEIT study guide 2024/2025 provides detailed insights into the study conditions at German universities. The university comparison has existed for over 25 years and is the most comprehensive of its kind in the German-speaking region. The results of the CHE ranking are available online via the HeyStudium platform. Frank Ziegele, Managing Director of the CHE, emphasizes the high level of student satisfaction, as more than half of the departments evaluated achieved top marks for the study situation.

The ZEIT study guide not only includes the rankings, but also offers valuable information about choosing a course of study. In the extensive publication, which includes 292 pages and an extra booklet “Paths into a career”, interested parties can receive tips on the numerus clausus and starting their studies. We recommend purchasing the study guide for 11.95 euros, which will be available from May 4th. In addition to the rankings, an interactive map of Germany is also provided, which visualizes the top results of the universities in the CHE university ranking 2024/25.

Conclusion and outlook

The current study not only illustrates the satisfaction of TUM students, but also the university's outstanding position compared to other universities. With consistently high ratings over the years, TUM shows that it is an excellent choice for students in various disciplines. Future students can rely on high-quality training and support from experienced teachers.
