Experience diversity: Eichstätt’s colorful events in May and June!
On April 23, 2025 the time has come: the opening service of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt is coming up. At 9 a.m. Auxiliary Bishop Paul Reder will celebrate the service in the Guardian Angel Church. This festive occasion marks the start of the summer semester and brings with it numerous events that appeal to both students and the general public.
Holy masses take place regularly in the Guardian Angel Church: Sundays at 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and weekdays at 7:00 a.m. These services offer the community an important opportunity for spiritual participation. Other services in the Eichstätter Cathedral parish are on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and at various times on weekdays, including an evening mass on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and Eucharistic adoration on Thursday at 7:00 p.m stadtkirche-eichstaett.de reported.
A variety of events in the summer semester
The Catholic University Community (KHG) program during the semester is varied. Every Tuesday there is a shared breakfast made from rescued food. On Thursday, the discussion format “Coffee and The(e)ma” in the KU cafete ensures stimulating discussions. Further information is available on the KHG website at khg-eichstaett.de.
A special highlight of the summer semester is the premiere of the musical “The Journey of the Companions”, which will be performed on May 16th in the Neuburg City Theater. Additional performances are scheduled for May 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25. Admission is free, but tickets should be reserved, which can be done by sending an email to the uni-musical address.
In addition to these cultural events, the “People in Motion” project will hold a science cinema entitled “wissen.schaft.wir KINO”. The dates in Ingolstadt are scheduled for May 2nd, 15th and 21st. This series of events highlights topics such as friendship, AI avatars and the working atmosphere.
Attractions for students and families
Also planned is a weekly film offering from the KUKino team, which will show films in the original English version with German subtitles in the Eichstätter Theke. In June and July there will be an open-air cinema in the courtyard of the former riding school, offering numerous opportunities for film-loving viewers.
The “Open Day” at the KU will take place on May 24th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested can find out about more than 40 study programs and attend various introductory lectures. A KU Discovery Pass is provided for children to help them explore the university in a playful way. In addition, the Ingolstadt campus has prepared a program with keynote speeches and information stands from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Catholic University's feast day will take place on June 4th in Eichstätt, with a service at 2:30 p.m. and a ceremony at 4 p.m. The KU summer festival in the Eichstätter Hofgarten on July 10th promises a festive atmosphere with music, food and drinks, while the final of the “Äsicup” soccer tournament will also take place on July 10th.
