Future-oriented technologies: Digitalization in the focus of the Digital Tag 2025

On May 27, 2025, the Digital Day 2025 took place in Eastern Bavaria, which focused on the diverse possibilities of digital transformation. Organized by TZ PULSE, the GZDN and the INDIGO network, the event presented relevant topics in five central areas: Smart Factory, digital marketing, competence with AI, future-proof corporate strategy and the realization that the future is not a coincidence.

Various formats were offered as part of the event, including keynotes, expert panels and interactive workshops. These formats were used to shed light on the current status of digitalization in the industry and its future prospects.

Insights into the Smart Factory

In the “Smart Factory” panel, experts such as Prof. Dr. Sebastian Meißner from TZ PULS and Florian Brunner and Niklas Bauer from the BMW Group on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in production. They particularly emphasized the importance of humans in AI-controlled systems, even if many processes are automated. Practical impulses came from Corinna Huber, Marion Lemke, Christoph Müller, Lisa Schuler and Jakob Wittmann (all TZ PULS), as well as Prof. Dr. Reimer Studt (HAW Landshut) and Prof. Dr. Carsten Röh (TZ PULS). These discussions illustrate how production is being revolutionized through modern, connected approaches and smart manufacturing.

In the context of smart manufacturing, it is important to emphasize that this approach is transforming the industrial landscape. It promotes agility, efficiency and innovation in factories, like Siemens explained. The challenges of discrete manufacturing, such as producing diverse product variants in smaller quantities while maintaining quality and efficiency, are addressed by smart manufacturing. Technologies such as AI, IoT and digital twins play a key role here.

Digital marketing strategies in focus

Prof. Dr. Eva Schuckmann from OTH Regensburg explained at the “Digital Marketing” panel how essential the performance measurement of marketing measures is. Together with Christina Hofer and Ingo Kamps (MOR Munich Online Rebels) she presented the basics and success factors for content and performance marketing. Innovative AI tools were also presented that offer a new approach to marketing, developed by representatives of the companies wiasano, Mozaik and malmachen.

In the panel “Competent with AI”, Veronika Hackl (University of Passau) and Sebastian Henneberg (synsugar GmbH) pointed out that the sensible use of AI in small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) is important. It was mentioned that AI cannot take over all processes independently. An interactive workshop with Judith Mosandl (data mAlnd) showed specifically how immediately usable AI tools can be integrated into everyday company life.

Strategies for the future

The panel on “Sustainable Corporate Strategy” provided insights from experts such as Benedikt Kulzer (SK Technology GmbH), Prof. Dr. Carola Jungwirth (University of Passau) and Prof. Dr. Theresa Veer (University of Regensburg) on resilient business models through the use of AI. Veer made it clear that AI goes far beyond tools like ChatGPT. The discussions about how companies can actively shape their future with strategic foresight were deepened in the keynote “Future is not a coincidence” by Andreas Lovric (LIWEST nextLAB, FH OÖ Campus Wels).

In summary, it can be said that Digital Day 2025 underlined the relevance of digitalization efforts in Eastern Bavaria. The event highlighted not only existing technologies and their applications, but also future developments that help companies remain competitive and sustainable.
