Berlin startups shine at the Deep Tech Award 2025 – innovation boost from the TU!

On July 2, 2025, the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin) achieved great success at the renowned Deep Tech Award 2025. A total of three startups with TU Berlin roots made it into the 15 finalists in five different technology categories. This impressively shows the innovation potential and entrepreneurial strength of Berlin's universities.

In the robotics category, DiAvEn UG, founded by TU Berlin alumni in 2019, was named winner. The company operates a drone delivery system to deliver medical laboratory samples quickly and efficiently. The focus is on efficiency, speed and sustainability, topics that are extremely important given the challenges in the healthcare system. Also nominated in this category was Conbotics GmbH, founded in 2021, which develops innovative robotics solutions specifically for the construction industry. Their practical rental model aims to make it easier for craft businesses to access advanced technology.

Achievements in sustainability and social impact

Another success of the TU Berlin was celebrated in the Sustainable & Social Impact category with PRAMOMOLECULAR GmbH. Founded in 2021, this company uses patented platform technology to accelerate drug development. The founding was supported by the EXIST research transfer, which illustrates the close connection between science and business.

In addition, Noah Labs, another startup from the TU Berlin network, won in the artificial intelligence category. All nominated startups received valuable support from the Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) at TU Berlin and illustrate the university's central role in the Science & Startups start-up network. This shows that TU Berlin not only produces innovative ideas, but also actively contributes to the implementation of these ideas.

The Deep Tech Award in the Berlin innovation landscape

The Deep Tech Award has been presented by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises since 2015. It presents itself as an important showcase for the Berlin deep tech scene. In 2025, the awards were presented by Economics Senator Franziska Giffey, and each winning team received prize money of 10,000 euros. The recognition of the TU Berlin through this competition underlines the importance of the region as a hotspot for deep tech technologies.

In recent years, Berlin has established itself as a center for innovative technologies. In 2022, 276 companies were active in the field of artificial intelligence in Berlin, creating a total of 6,797 jobs. Likewise, the blockchain industry counted 124 companies that generated 1,006 jobs. These figures illustrate the dynamic growth rate of the sectors that contribute to Berlin's economic strength and innovative capacity. Nevertheless, these companies face challenges such as long development processes and high innovation costs.

However, the high demand for deep tech products and solutions acts as a key growth driver for the city. The Berlin.de platform highlights the city as a place that offers optimal conditions for companies in the fields of artificial intelligence and blockchain, showing that Berlin is well positioned to play a central role in the global technology landscape.
