Dr. Koch takes over CFO position at ESMT: New era for managers!
Dr. Matthias Koch has been appointed as the new COO/CFO of ESMT Berlin esmt.berlin reported. He brings extensive international experience in finance and has previously held management positions at well-known companies such as Procter & Gamble, St. Jude Medical and Abbott Laboratories. In addition, Dr. Koch worked as Group CFO of the MEDIAN Group in Berlin, a leading operator of rehabilitation clinics in Europe. Most recently, he was Group CFO at Schülke & Mayr, an international provider of disinfection and hygiene solutions based in Hamburg.
At Schülke & Mayr, Dr. Koch responsible for financial management, IT, legal and compliance. His expertise is complemented by his work as a senior advisor in the areas of IT and private equity. Particularly noteworthy is his qualification as a certified executive coach (INSEAD), which gives him a strong understanding of artificial intelligence in business and education. Werner Zedelius, Chairman of the ESMT Supervisory Board, highlights Dr. Koch's combination of operational excellence and strategic vision.
Strategic direction and transition
Dr. Koch will support ESMT Berlin's strategic goals with a long-term and sustainable perspective. His predecessor, Georg Garlichs, will move to a new role as Director of Real Estate at ESMT, where he will lead the strategic development and management of the school's real estate projects. ESMT President Jörg Rocholl thanked Garlichs for his successful work as CFO over the last eleven years.
ESMT Berlin is not only known for its excellent training, but also for its innovative programs such as the Executive Transition Program (ETP). This leading leadership program has existed for over 20 years and has supported more than 500 leaders from 52 countries. Structure of the Executive Transition Program
The ETP combines traditional teaching methods with innovative learning approaches and promotes exchange among participants. The modules of the program are as follows:
- Modul Eins: Grundlagen und Verbindungen: Dieses Modul findet in Schweden statt und fokussiert sich auf die technischen Grundlagen des Managements sowie persönliche Verbindungen. Es umfasst eine Mini-MBA-Ausbildung in Bereichen wie Finanzen, Marketing und Nachhaltigkeit und bietet Aktivitäten zur individuellen Reflexion und Peer-Coaching, z.B. Wanderungen und Kajakfahren.
- Modul Zwei: Strategische Einblicke: In diesem Modul werden externe Faktoren thematisiert, die den Führungserfolg beeinflussen, wie Strategie, geopolitische Trends und Innovation. Die Teilnehmer nehmen an Workshops und offenen Diskussionen teil.
- Modul Drei: Vertiefung in Selbstführung: Hier liegt der Fokus auf Selbstführung mit Unterstützung von Executive Coaches. Es werden Werte und Führungsstile reflektiert sowie ethische Diskussionen und die Erkundung von Diversität und Inklusion behandelt.
After completion of the program, an annual alumni meeting is held to promote networking and further development of participants. The ETP aims to equip leaders with the necessary skills and networks to succeed in a dynamic business environment.
