TUB Berlin becomes TUB/CO: New name, new opportunities for science!
TU Berlin has announced a significant renaming of its subsidiary. TUBS GmbH officially becomes TUB/CO – TU Berlin Corporate. This change will come into force on June 19, 2025 and is intended to sharpen the external image and the role within the university. Managing director Ingo Einacker explains that the new name more clearly emphasizes the affiliation with TU Berlin. TUB/CO has been an important partner for TU scientists for 25 years and supports them in projects, further training, conferences and third-party funded projects.
TUB/CO operates as a legally independent GmbH and is wholly owned by TU Berlin. The company aims to provide quick and practical solutions that are often difficult to implement in the university's administrative structure. Instead of being an external service provider, TUB/CO sees itself as a strategic enabler in the TU Berlin ecosystem, with the aim of networking companies, research institutions and university members. The mission includes creating spaces for innovation, promoting excellent further training and active knowledge transfer. The new website, www.tub.co, also went online today, underpinning TUB/CO's new identity.
Focus on science management
TUB/CO plays an essential role in the area of science management at TU Berlin, which is becoming increasingly important. The master's degree in science management, which is also offered at the Technical University of Berlin, is aimed at specialists in management positions in universities, research institutions and foundations. A central topic will be discussed in the upcoming symposium on July 10, 2025 at the nexus Institute in Berlin: “Budget cuts – just a challenge or an opportunity to raise your profile?” Here experts like Prof. Dr. Heike Graßmann, Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Schildhauer and Prof. Henning Meyer are expected to present their views on the current challenges in the higher education sector.
The course combines management basics with practical examples from the scientific field and offers the opportunity to develop further in various specializations, including science marketing and application-oriented qualifications in science communication. Participants receive a Master of Science (M.Sc.) or a certificate. The part-time course takes place in a blended learning format, which offers the flexibility of face-to-face and online phases.
Qualification in science management
The importance of further training in science management goes beyond the TU Berlin. Programs such as the science management course at the Danube University Krems and the master's course in educational management at the University of Oldenburg contribute to the professionalization of leadership skills in the education sector. The Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and the University of Münster also offer relevant programs that focus on the challenges of university management. The importance of practice-oriented further training and sustainable qualifications is becoming increasingly important in this context.
The constantly changing requirements in the educational and scientific sectors require well-trained specialists who are able to master management tasks efficiently and actively shape developments. The programs at TU Berlin and beyond play a central role in training these specialists and preparing them for the challenges of the future. The symposium on July 10, 2025 is an important platform for the exchange of ideas and strategies in order to collectively deal with the tasks of the current educational landscape.
In summary, the renaming of TUBS to TUB/CO is not just a cosmetic change. It reflects the ambitious mission of redefining and, if necessary, even redesigning the role of science and education in a social context.
