Application start for the winter semester: How to secure your place at the BTU!
On March 8, 2025, the Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) announced the start of applications for the winter semester 2025/2026. Prospective students can now apply for all bachelor's and master's degree programs, as well as the orientation course. The start of the course is scheduled for October 1, 2025.
Applicants from Germany and abroad must observe the deadline of July 15, 2025 in order to submit their documents on time. This deadline also applies to incoming applicants who would like to take part in exchange programs such as ERASMUS+ or STUDEXA. If you have any questions about the application, the central student advisory service is available on T +49 (0)355 69 3800 as well as the specialist study advisors for German and international applicants.
Application and course offerings
The BTU opened the application phase in the summer semester of 2024. Applications have been possible since March 8, 2024 for the start of the semester on April 1, 2024, with lectures starting on April 8, 2024. This semester there are 19 master's degree programs and two bachelor's degree programs in business mathematics and digital society to choose from. Other programs include orientation studies and certificate studies.
Students at other universities have the opportunity to apply for all BTU degree programs. Applications for German university entrance qualifications are made via the myBTU portal, while international applicants should use the uni-assist service to have their foreign university entrance qualifications checked.
International applicants and admission procedures
According to Hochschulstart's guidelines, which regulate the submission of applications for international applicants, foreign applicants and people without citizenship who have a German university entrance qualification or who have studied in Germany are treated equally. Citizens of the EU and EEA contracting states are also allowed to study at the BTU.
It is important to note that non-equal foreign applicants must meet certain language requirements. Proof of German language skills is of central importance here. Detailed information about the application and the required language skills is available on the website of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs.
The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is considered one of the largest technical universities in Germany and offers a comprehensive range of courses in engineering, natural sciences, economics, humanities and computer sciences. It also enjoys numerous international partnerships that offer students a wide range of opportunities for international exchange.
