Former TU Darmstadt students celebrate at the campus festival full of highlights!

On September 21, 2025, the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg invites its alumni to a special alumni meeting on the central campus. This event, which is intended to promote exchange and networking among former students, will be opened by the Vice President for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Peer Schmidt. Alumni have the opportunity to get to know the developments and changes on the campus better. The program ranges from campus tours to technical lectures and social gatherings.

The campus tours offer participants the opportunity to discover different aspects of the campus. A highlight is the special tour on the topic of “Art in Architecture”, which is of particular interest to art-loving alumni. Prof. Spyra, a former professor of contaminated sites, will also give a lecture on forensic work and old criminal cases, also known as cold cases. This interesting topic promises exciting insights into the world of criminology.

Diverse program and sociability

The event begins at 1:00 p.m. with admission, followed by a welcome by Prof. Dr. Peer Schmidt and alumni speaker Daniel Ebert at 1:05 p.m. The campus tours start at 1:30 p.m., while there is an opportunity to exchange ideas over coffee and cake at 3:00 p.m. At the same time, Prof. Spyra will give his lecture at 3:30 p.m. The event not only promotes the exchange of knowledge, but also personal encounters between alumni.

The evening begins with an after-show party in the Quasimono student club, which starts at 9 p.m. Musical entertainment will be provided by the live band “My Wife And The Microwaves”, which will perform rock cover songs at 9:30 p.m. This festive atmosphere gives alumni the opportunity to celebrate together and relive memories of their time as students.

Additional campus tours in Frankfurt

A variety of campus tours are also offered at the University of Frankfurt, led by Ulrike Jaspers and Lucia Lentes. The tours are available in German and English and are aimed at both initiates and those interested in getting to know the Westend campus. The specific themed tours include “Studying on Goethe’s Campus” and “The Architect Poelzig and His Successors”.

The Fritz Bauer Institute also offers open tours of the Wollheim Memorial, which usually take place on the third Saturday of the month. These tours cover the history of the I.G. Farbenindustrie AG and its involvement in National Socialism. Contemporary witness interviews, which are shown in the memorial pavilion, are an important part of these group tours.

Exclusive experiences at TU Darmstadt

For alumni of TU Darmstadt, a campus tour with the theme “Athene” offers the opportunity to explore the city center campus. This event, which is limited to a maximum of 25 people, provides insights into the sculptures and art at the university. The focus is on addressing sustainability and social activities within the university.

The tour, which lasts 90 minutes and takes place outdoors, begins at the old main building and ends at the castle. Anyone interested must register in advance as the number of participants is limited. With a view of the different historical aspects of the campus and the opportunity to bring binoculars to take a closer look at the details, participants can expect an enriching experience.

As alumni prepare for these special events, it becomes clear that the secret connections and memories continue to strengthen the alumni community. From Cottbus to Frankfurt to Darmstadt, the alumni events are designed to connect the past with the present and usher in a new chapter in the lives of alumni.
