Discover the future: Open day at BTU Senftenberg!

On May 14, 2025, the Brandenburg Technical University (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg opened its doors to interested and future students. The open day took place at both the central campus in Cottbus and the Senftenberg university campus and offered an exciting opportunity to get to know the institution's diverse study programs better. Over 120 companies, associations and institutions took part in this initiative and presented a wide range of possibilities.

Particularly noteworthy is the free shuttle service, which offered regular connections between the two campuses. From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., guests were able to take part in a variety of program items that were both informative and entertaining.

Diverse offers for students

The program included information about studying at BTU, open laboratories, experiments and campus tours. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors were able to gain insights into the primary school teaching course, while from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. first aid courses took place in the children's university. Alumni campus tours in the Konrad Zuse Media Center were offered at 11:15 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The day also had some highlights for those interested in science: laboratory tours in areas such as nursing and midwifery science, therapeutic science and stem cell biology. Microscopic examinations of blood and chemical experiments offered guests the opportunity to become active themselves. Technological innovations were presented through demonstrations in the high-voltage laboratory and through the “hands-on robotics” offering with humanoid robots and mini robot dogs.

Reached a wide audience

The target groups of the open day included students, teachers and parents. Information on dual study programs, study conditions, financing options and semesters abroad was provided in order to offer students in grades 9 to 13 a comprehensive overview of the study landscape, within which the Future Day also took place. This legislative day focused on scientific and technical careers.

In addition, the BTU offered meals from students and from Lausitzer Biotech e.V. The culinary offerings could be found at various locations between buildings 14 and 15 as well as in the cafeteria. The central point of contact for visitors was the foyer of the media center (Building 11), which was open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event was organized by the agency Wieduwilt Kommunikation and Pop Projekt and funded by the “Sustainable City Centers and Centers” program of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction.

Overall, the open day was a successful opportunity to strengthen contact between the university and future students. The university not only offered an insight into the courses on offer, but also the opportunity to gain practical experience and exchange ideas directly with teachers and students. Like from studienwahl.de According to reports, many universities regularly hold study information days to familiarize students with the subject content and requirements before starting their studies.

More information about the event details and offers is available on the BTU website and via the links provided as part of the Future Day. The open day at the BTU is therefore not only a window to academic opportunities, but also a platform for the development of forward-looking ideas.
