Festive Graduation Day: Over 220 graduates celebrate at Viadrina!
An important event is coming up at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) on June 19, 2025: Graduation Day will take place on Saturday, June 28. The university is pleased to welcome over 220 graduates along with their families and friends. The celebrations begin at 1 p.m.
As part of the event, diplomas from three faculties will be presented: cultural studies, law and economics. Particularly noteworthy is the awarding of certificates for the first time by the European New School of Digital Studies. This premiere underlines Viadrina's innovative strength and interdisciplinary approach.
Celebratory atmosphere and networking
After the official certificate award ceremony, a champagne reception will take place on the campus square from around 2:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy the festive atmosphere and be entertained by live music from the German-Polish band Lunya. Media representatives are invited to report on this festive day and can register by sending an email to presse@europa-uni.de.
A special highlight for the graduates will be the opportunity to take group photos after the faculty celebrations. The event will not only be a ceremonial conclusion to your studies, but also a valuable networking event.
Personal insights into legal training
In her speech, she commented on three central learning contents of the course. First, it emphasized the importance of legal thinking, which goes far beyond logic and reasoning. According to Peter Gauch, six characteristics characterize this thinking: legal categories, abstract, rational and systematic thinking, thinking in errors and traditional thinking. This is supplemented by training in “interest-oriented communication”, which promotes appreciation for people without legal training. The second point concerned legal language. Tippmann pointed out the difficulties associated with the inflationary use of the subjunctive and specific legal expressions. Understanding complex formulations is a sign of maturity for the exam. Finally, she spoke about learning in law school, which requires patience and perseverance, often quoted by authors such as Franz Kafka and Goethe. She thanked her warmly for the individual support during her training at Viadrina, which cannot be taken for granted, and emphasized the great importance of European law. Viadrina University has an active alumni network with over 4,600 registered alumni who have entered numerous fields after their studies. The platform enables graduates to maintain contacts and continue to benefit from the university. Further details about this network are available on the university website available. The European Law School Network, an association that offers law students from seven European countries an integrated legal education, is also involved. Since its founding on September 15, 2011, the association has ensured cross-border cooperation within the framework of European integration, which further strengthens Viadrina's relevance and commitment in the international context. Graduation Day therefore not only marks the end of your studies, but also the opening of new perspectives and further exchange within the European community.A strong alumni network
