Anniversary of the Unithea Theater Festival: passion and art combined!

On June 3, 2025, the 25th student-organized theater festival Unithea will take place in the twin cities of Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice. The festival will be celebrated on Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th with the theme “Passion”. The European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) is the heartbeat of this event, which offers a diverse program with six international performances that will offer free entry. European University Viadrina reports that the venues include the Kleist Forum, BLOK O and the Theater des Lachens.

The organizers, a committed group of students and employees, implemented the festival planning as part of a project seminar. Maria Ullrich, one of the festival team leaders, highlights the positive response to this year's performances and expresses the enthusiasm of the audience. The application phase for artists who would like to present their passionate pieces has already begun and ends on January 6th. This initiative demonstrates a commitment to supporting both professional and emerging artists by paying a fee and covering travel expenses for select productions. Accommodation and meals are also provided.

Cultural engagement and support for students

The role of student bodies and their works is of great importance in the cultural life of universities. These not only promote theater performances, but also concerts and workshops that strengthen intercultural engagement. The International students point out that such culture-promoting measures also deepen the understanding of other cultures.

The Unithea festival therefore offers a platform that gives both students and artists the opportunity to express their creative passion and reach a wide audience with their performances. The anticipation for the anniversary edition of the festival is palpable and the organizers are determined to create an unforgettable experience.
