Young racing drivers take off: Porsche promotes talent in Potsdam!
On July 2, 2025, three young racing drivers, including the promising Janne Stiak, underwent important fitness and health checks in the outpatient clinic at the University of Potsdam. This measure takes place as part of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup rookie program, which supports talented drivers and promotes their development. The three drivers are all under 24 years old and are among the best in their age group.
The training course in this program is led by Marco Seefried, a former racing driver, who not only teaches participants technical skills, but also soft skills such as dealing with pressure and teamwork. Over an intensive two days, endurance, strength and reaction tests as well as various medical examinations are on the agenda to ensure that the rookies are in top shape.
Focus on holistic fitness
The health and performance of the drivers are particularly valued in the rookie program. In addition to the tests, participants receive individual training and nutrition plans. These aim to create the physical and psychological requirements for a successful career as a professional racing driver.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, which has a 30-year history, not only offers rookies the opportunity to improve their driving skills, but also to learn essential aspects such as marketing and sponsor acquisition. Thomas Preining and Patrick Long are among the former juniors who became factory drivers thanks to such support. Every year up to eight rookies take part in the structured training.
Career opportunities and prizes
As an incentive for participation in the rookie program, the winner can expect a license for the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, which is worth around 30,000 euros. Many participants aspire to a career as a factory driver, which is encouraged by access to various races and training courses. For example, Earl Bamber, who won the overall Supercup ranking in 2014, has made the leap to a works driver.
In addition, the rookies have the opportunity to take part in prestigious events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, further increasing their visibility and opportunities in the motorsport world.
The next race of the season takes place in Imola, northern Italy, where the drivers can put their training results to the test. With a strong focus on mental and physical fitness, the Porsche Rookie Program brings together promising talents who are making their way into the elite of motorsport.
