Lausitz Science Park: Innovation meeting for the future of the region!
The Lausitz Science Park (LSP) will be presented on May 14th and 15th, 2025 at the Real Estate Arena, one of the leading trade fairs for real estate, project development and urban planning in northern Germany. Led by the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, the event forms an important platform to emphasize the role of the LSP in the transformation of Lausitz into a center for research, technology and sustainable development. The joint stand with the motto “Krasse Lausitz – the Opportunity Region” is organized by the Cottbus Economic Development Agency. Important partners at the stand are the city of Cottbus, Startblock B2 and ASG Spremberg. The aim is to present investment opportunities and planned infrastructure expansions for research institutions, high-tech companies and start-ups. These developments aim to position the location as an innovation landscape with international appeal.
Details about the Lausitz Science Park
The LSP will be built on a 420 hectare site in the vicinity of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. The park's focused areas include energy transition, decarbonization, artificial intelligence (AI), digitalization and health and life sciences. By creating at least 10,000 jobs, including academics, specialists and managers, the LSP is intended to become a central real-world laboratory for Lusatia and other regions. Companies such as LEAG, BASF Schwarzheide, Deutsche Bahn and Rolls-Royce have already signaled their support. These partnerships offer important synergy effects for the development of the park, including a planned infrastructure with apartments, daycare centers and restaurants.
The initiative was launched by Prime Minister Dr. Dietmar Woidke and the ministries of science and economics, as was present at the presentation of the declaration of intent. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande, President of the BTU, is driving the project forward together with WISTA Management GmbH, which is known as the operator of the Adlershof Science and Technology Park in Berlin. The city of Senftenberg informs about the daily progress in the development of the park.
A significant event
The 43rd German Cities Day is taking place in Hanover parallel to the Real Estate Arena and is expecting up to 1,500 delegates and guests. The Real Estate Arena itself is expecting around 400 exhibiting companies and around 7,500 visitors from the areas of business, politics, science and media. Since its premiere in 2022, the event has established itself as a central platform for the medium-sized real estate and construction industry. This year's motto is: “We are building the future!”. The event reinforces the innovative strength of the region, which is undergoing change.
