New bachelor's and master's degree programs are starting at the BTU Cottbus!

The Brandenburg Technical University (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg has expanded its range of courses for the winter semester 2025/26. This includes both new bachelor's and master's degree programs that offer interesting perspectives for students.

Among the new bachelor's degree programs, “Life Science and International Health” stands out, which is taught in English. The course combines scientific principles with biomedical issues and digital health systems. In addition, law and social science modules are part of the curriculum in order to optimally prepare students for the national and international job market in the healthcare sector.

Diverse bachelor's degree programs

Another new offer is the Bachelor in Environmental Sciences, which is offered in German. This course of study deals, among other things, with actively shaping the environment and finding solutions to challenges such as climate change and environmental pollution. Areas of study include water management, land use, environmental engineering and sustainability strategies.

In addition, eleven independent bachelor's degree programs are offered in the primary level of teaching, but these have restricted admission and therefore require a numerus clausus (NC). The application deadline for these courses ends on July 15, 2025.

New master's degree programs

A number of new courses are available for students who would like to deepen their knowledge through a master's degree. These include “History of Architecture and Art” and “Chemistry: Materials, Engineering and Sustainability”, both of which are taught in German and English respectively.

A particularly innovative course of study is the “Control of Renewable Energy Systems”, a joint EU master’s program in cooperation with universities in France and Croatia. This program aims to train engineers to meet the challenges of environmental and energy goals.

The application deadline for the new master's degree programs without NC ends on August 31, 2025, while an application for the restricted-admission programs must be received on July 15, 2025.

Application details

Special application deadlines apply to German citizens, EU citizens and foreign students:

  • Bachelor-Programme (zulassungsfreie Fächer): bis 15. September 2025
  • Master-Programme: bis 31. August 2025
  • Bewerbung für zulassungsbeschränkte Studiengänge im Lehramt Primarstufe: bis 15. Juli 2025

It is important that the application documents are received by Student Services on time. If the end of the deadline falls on a weekend or a public holiday, specific regulations must be observed, as set out in the university procurement regulations.

Every application via the dialogue-oriented service process (DoSV) begins with registration in the application portal, which is free of charge for applicants. It is important to open a user account that will remain available for at least a year after the successful completion of a procedure. Re-applicants should also use their existing account to avoid deletion of their old accounts.

Before you apply, you must register, which requires personal information such as name, date of birth and address. The data is protected in accordance with the data protection guidelines. For more information about registration, please visit University start, while SLE provides useful details about deadlines and the BTU describes the new courses and their content in detail.
