New dual Bachelor in Business Taxation starts at Viadrina!
On March 9, 2025, the new dual bachelor's degree program in Business Taxation was presented at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). Enrollment for the course is possible for the first time in the winter semester of 2025/26. This innovative course of study extends over seven semesters and enables part-time training.
Students will work in tax consulting firms and companies in Berlin and Brandenburg, where they can apply their theoretical knowledge directly in practice. Prof. Dr. Christina Elschner developed the course offering and emphasizes the importance of practical and theoretical networking.
Study content and organization
The curriculum includes the basics of business administration, tax law and other legal aspects. Students study at the university three days a week and apply what they have learned in their professional environment on the remaining days. This combination of theory and practice promotes a deep understanding of the relevant issues in the area of taxes.
Viadrina President Prof. Dr. Eduard Mühle underlines the scientific nature of the course and highlights the cooperation with various tax consulting companies in Frankfurt (Oder) as well as larger companies in Berlin and Brandenburg. Partner companies such as DOMUS Steuerberatungs-AG and Immunitas Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbH play a central role in the application process.
Application and admission
Applications are made via the cooperating partner companies. Future students must first respond to a job advertisement from one of these tax consulting companies. After a successful application, the application for admission to the course follows. If the application phase is successfully completed, a study contract will be signed that allows enrollment at the university until September 15th.
The lecture periods are divided into two semesters: from April 7th to July 18th, 2025 and from October 13th, 2025 to February 6th, 2026. The admission requirement is a university entrance qualification. Even if the route via partner companies is the most common for dual study programs, those interested have the option of applying directly to the university.
With the Business Taxation course, the European University Viadrina is expanding its range of dual study programs; There has been a program for prospective auditors since 2022. These initiatives demonstrate the university's commitment to offering practical and relevant educational offerings.
The dual degree program opens up many opportunities for students who are interested in numbers and legal issues and at the same time want to gain practical experience in the professional world. A regular income during your studies also strengthens the students' financial independence and promotes hasty preparation for starting their careers.
Overall, with its new degree program, the European University Viadrina offers a promising option for all those who want to pursue a career in the field of taxes and acquire practical knowledge. After all, this academic training could lay the foundation for a successful career in the dynamic world of business and finance.
