Potsdam rocks: 6,000 participants in the spectacular company run!
On May 27, 2025, the IKK BB company run took place in the historic area around Sanssouci Park and the New Palace in Potsdam. The University of Potsdam emerged as the largest university in the country and sent 344 runners into the race. The institution thus once again secured the title of the “sportiest company” with the most active people. The event had a total number of participants of over 6,000 people, who came from 354 represented companies, authorities, associations and institutions.
What was particularly pleasing was the fact that the proportion of women this year, at 50.2%, was slightly higher than that of men for the first time. The University of Potsdam was not only able to provide the largest number of participants, but also impressed with outstanding achievements. Maren Smoljuk, in particular, stood out, taking first place in the women's individual ranking with a time of 18:17 minutes. In the team rankings, several groups from the university secured top positions.
Impressive team performance
The successes of the University of Potsdam in detail: In the mixed team, Maren Smoljuk, Katja Schäfer, Johannes Frenzl and Frederic Süßmann took 1st place with a total time of 1:11:15 hours. In the women's team, Maren Smoljuk, Katja Schäfer, Louisa Sommer and Isabel Wapenhans won with 1:22:09 hours. The men's team with Johannes Frenzl, Frederic Süßmann, Torben Bennink and Ronen Pinkas also prevailed with a time of 1:10:59 hours and took 1st place. Johannes Frenzl rounded off the successes by taking third place in the men's individual ranking with a time of 15:29 minutes.
Another participant, the “Paragraph Riders” team from Department 3: Human Resources and Legal Affairs, took second place in the “most creative team” category. These achievements not only demonstrate the participants' sporting competence, but also the University of Potsdam's high level of commitment to a healthy and active workforce.
Organization and support
The organization of the company day was carried out by University Sports at the University of Potsdam in close cooperation with the company health management and the Association for the Promotion of University Sports e.V. Participants received meals while the results were evaluated online davengo.com is available.
The event also featured a raffle led by Chancellor Hendrik Woithe. The distribution of starting documents and catering tokens took place on the Monday before the race, and late registrations were possible until Tuesday at 5 p.m. A QR code on the start envelope also made it easier to dynamically change names and record participant data.
Current trends show that company runs are not just sporting events, but an important tool for promoting team spirit and employee motivation. Initiatives such as Jobfit+ offer comprehensive packages for organizing running training that should benefit the entire workforce. Such programs are not only intended for ambitious runners, but also for less active people and are often offered after work. The digital platform Gesundheit|bewegt complements physical running training with e-running coach programs.
For companies interested in further running projects or step challenges, individual offers are available via contact forms and social media. This means that the IKK BB company run is not only a sporting highlight, but also an important step towards health promotion in the world of work.
