Ronja Tittel: Cultural heritage of the future will be honored!
On June 27, 2025, as part of the “Kulturcampus Sachsendorf” campus festival at the Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), the award for special achievements and commitment was presented to Ronja Tittel, a committed biotechnology student in her sixth semester. Tittel was recognized for her outstanding academic achievements and her voluntary work. Her involvement in the BTU began in 2023 when she served on the Biotechnology and Materials Chemistry Student Council and served as deputy chairwoman there for a year.
Their initiatives were particularly highlighted, including the organization of the student Christmas market and the first Senftenberg Snowflake Ball. In addition, Tittel has been moderating youth consecrations since 2019 as a member of the Märkische Jugendweihe e.V. association. Her achievements were also recognized at the Medical University of Bialystok, where she completed her practical semester of study, which was documented in a letter of recommendation.
Promotion award for women
The jury, led by the Central Equal Opportunities Officer Birgit Hendrischke, recommended Tittel for the sponsorship award from the Frauenhilfswerk Cottbus e.V. This prize, which is endowed with 1,000 euros, is awarded annually to a BTU student who is particularly committed both in her studies and beyond.
The Frauenhilfswerk Cottbus e.V. actively supports the legal, social and professional status of women and promotes their visibility within the academic community.
MINT women's scholarship
In parallel to the awards, a MINT women's scholarship is offered at BTU, which encourages women and girls to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT). Applications are possible until August 31, 2023. The scholarship includes financial support of 250 euros per month in the first two semesters of study, workshops to support entry into studies and access to a network of successful women in the industry.
The selection criteria focus on personal motivation and passion for the subject and not exclusively on grade point average. Scholarship holders of the program have shared positive experiences: Nele Hoffmann and Ronja Tittel emphasize the valuable contacts and the promotion of their MINT talents.
