Scholarship at the BTU Cottbus: This is how students secure funding!

Hai Viet Le is one of the young talents selected for the Germany Scholarship at the Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU Cottbus). The bachelor's student in instrumental and vocal pedagogy not only brings with him his enthusiasm for individual lessons, but also extensive practical experience that he has gained through musical projects. A special performance was that of the romantic opera “Dido and Aeneas”, in which he took on the role of Aeneas.

He also works as a student assistant in the field of singing and singing didactics under the direction of Professor Simone Schröder. In addition to his studies and professional obligations, Hai Viet Le is also involved in the student council of his course, where he advocates for the interests of his fellow students. These diverse activities reflect his involvement in the academic community—an important factor in awarding the scholarship.

The Deutschlandstipendium: Structures and award criteria

A central aspect of the Deutschlandstipendium is the financial support of 300 euros per month, half of which comes from the PSD Bank Berlin-Brandenburg and the other half from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The approval period is initially limited to two semesters, although an extension is possible if you demonstrate convincing performance. These scholarships are awarded to particularly talented, high-performing and socially committed students.

The selection criteria are clearly defined: Prospective students must be enrolled at the BTU Cottbus, have excellent grades and have at least two semesters in the standard period of study. A key criterion is commitment outside of your studies, be it in the social, political or cultural areas. Personal circumstances such as social or family backgrounds are also taken into account when awarding the scholarship.

Application and personal experiences

Hai Viet Le found the application process for the Germany Scholarship to be uncomplicated and well structured. When he applied, he received letters of recommendation from lecturers, even though he did not yet have solid grades by the application deadline. This support shows how important academic networks and mentoring are at BTU.

He recommends other students to also apply for the Deutschlandstipendium. This option for financial support not only makes everyday student life easier, but also the opportunity to concentrate on what is important: training and personal development. Those interested can apply online to become part of this valuable initiative.

Overall, it can be seen that the Deutschlandstipendium makes an important contribution to promoting young talent at the BTU Cottbus by not only offering financial support, but also focusing on the students' social commitment and personal development.
