The next step was a taxi to the airport that took the participants back home after a fun night. This week was rich in unwatched adventures that were not fully documented but certainly left their mark.

The climb to the Castell de Miravet

The hike to the castle was an adventure in itself. The path led through the beautifully designedDesert de les Palmes Protected Landscape Area, which is known for its picturesque variety of plants in the rugged, red mountains. The group reached the castle shortly after half past three in the afternoon. The steep path required several rest breaks as the effort was great.

The first sight of the castle was a little disappointing, as it only offered a short wall and bushes. But the view of the “real” castle ruins further up impressed everyone. This ruin is undeveloped for tourism, which gives it a touch of untouchedness. Arriving high up at the summit, the group experienced a feeling of discovery and wonder.

The Castell de Miravet is one of the most important historical sites in Spain and is part of the cultural heritage and identity of the city of Miravet.
