On June 28, 2025, an impressive graduation ceremony took place on the campus square of the European University Viadrina. Over 850 international guests came to celebrate around 220 graduates. The best graduates of the Faculty of Law, Chiara Ungerer and Tom Heilmann, who both passed the first law examination, received special recognition. Ungerer and Heilmann already hold positions as research assistants and are planning to pursue a doctorate.
Annemarie Kelpe received the award for the best thesis of 2024/2025. Her work dealt with the topic “Teachers before the Frankfurt (Oder) denazification commission in 1947/48”. Kelpe is currently in the project "DenkMal! Death March Mülsen - Eibenstock 1945" at the Alten Gasometer e. V. works in Zwickau. She also discussed her involvement with “Students for Climate Justice” and the challenges she faced in communicating with right-wing extremist thinkers.
The Viadrina is valued as a central anchor for discussions and engagement within the student body in both academic and social matters. The graduation ceremony was not only a sign of success, but also an opportunity to celebrate these values.
