Welcome from all over the world: Cottbus and Senftenberg open exchanges!

In the summer semester of 2025, the Brandenburg Technical University of Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) will once again open its doors to a large number of international students who are coming to Germany from various countries as part of exchange programs such as ERASMUS+ and STUDEXA. A total of participants from 16 countries, including Egypt, Brazil, Japan and Ukraine, are expected in Cottbus and Senftenberg. These programs offer students the opportunity to not only gain academic experience, but also to acquire intercultural skills and establish international networks. b-tu.de reports that the students of the German-Jordanien University will not only study at the BTU during their stay, but will also complete internships in Germany.

To welcome the new students, the BTU organized an event that provides extensive information about the university's various offerings. An overview of how the language courses are organized by the language center, which offers language courses at different levels, is given. The International Relations Office also provides information about the study organization at the university and presents the cultural offerings in the region. Planned day trips for the 2025 summer semester are also presented.

A colorful program for international students

A highlight of the event is the presentation by the International Department of the Student Council (StuRa). Here, students receive information about the interest group's offers as well as planned campus events that are intended to promote coexistence and learning at the BTU. Another aspect that underlines the international flair of the BTU is the founding of the local ERASMUS initiative. This group of volunteer students is committed to helping exchange students with orientation and organizing various events.

The welcome session offers international guests the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other and make initial contacts. In a relaxed atmosphere with pizza and getting-to-know-you games, the connection between the international students and the International Relations Office team is also promoted. The BTU therefore relies on comprehensive integration and community building in order to welcome international students.

Support and funding opportunities

The options for a stay abroad are diverse and are supported by various programs. Information on exchange opportunities, support services and language requirements is available for each faculty. Interested students can find out more in the brochure “Erasmus+ Program Application Information 2025/2026”. In addition to the BTU exchange programs, there are also remaining places available at the Technical University of Berlin as part of Erasmus+, which can be applied for until May 31, 2025 if they remain unfilled by then. tu.berlin informs you that application options and the specific conditions must be checked in the faculty-specific booklets.

In addition, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports international exchange programs through various scholarships and programs. These enable students to get to know new teaching and research approaches, expand their language skills and improve their professional opportunities. An overview of the funding opportunities offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) can be accessed via the DAAD scholarship database. bmbf.de emphasizes that Germany is an attractive host country for international students and helps to strengthen competitiveness and innovative strength in education.
