Bremen celebrates: 435 graduates set new sails with Set Sail”!

On June 12th and 13th, 2025, 435 graduates were released into a new phase of their lives during celebrations under the motto “Set Sail” at the Constructor University in Bremen. The emotional ceremony, which began on the evening of June 12, was opened by a Commencement Gala, attended by numerous family and friends as well as two prominent speakers: Prof. Mete Atatüre from the University of Cambridge and Louis J. Freeh, former director of the FBI.

Prof. Mete Atatüre, a renowned scientist who has headed the physics department at the University of Cambridge since 2023, emphasized the need for curiosity, courage and compassion in today's world. Atatüre, considered a leading figure in quantum technologies and with a successful academic career, earned his doctorate in 2002 and has distinguished himself in various research projects. Among other things, he is co-founder of Nu Quantum and co-director of the quantum technology center Q-BIOMED.

Emotional farewell words and encouragement

During the gala, Louis J. Freeh, who wished the graduates good luck and success in their new paths, explained the importance of facing challenges with confidence. The solemn ceremony was rounded off with a motivating speech by Carmelina Roig, the student speaker, who shared her personal motto with those present.

The School Ceremonies on June 13th offered graduates the opportunity to receive their diplomas and be recognized for their achievements. Chancellor Turgut Tülü encouraged the graduates to prepare for new challenges and to put the knowledge they have learned into practice. Part of the graduation ceremonies also included the traditional “Hat Toss”, during which the graduates threw their hats in the air and celebrated their successful graduation.

The “Beyond the Pond” Alumni Reception

An important point of the festivities was the first “Beyond the Pond” alumni reception, which offered graduates the opportunity to network with former students. Alumni, a term that has its roots in Latin and means “pupil,” play a crucial role in networking and supporting educational institutions. Alumni networks promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences and support many universities in academic and professional development.

Constructor University congratulates the class of 2025 on their graduation and highlights the importance of alumni in the connection between former students and their alma mater. The many positive experiences show how alumni are of great importance not only to the institution, but also to the community.
