Innovative minds for Bremen: Demo Day of the Future on July 10th!

Since April 2025, students at the University of Bremen have been working with five Bremen companies on exciting challenges as part of the “future concepts bremen” project. This practice-oriented course extends over a period of 100 days and offers participants the opportunity to apply their university knowledge in practice. The results of the collaboration will be presented at the public Demo Day on July 10, 2025, which will take place in Bremen's DIGITAL HUB INDUSTRY. Admission to the event, which runs from 3 to 7 p.m., is free, but registration is required by July 10.

During the project, the students worked on current issues facing their practice partners. The companies involved are BalsoTech, braendz, Casmue, QuantumPrime and OHB Digital Connect GmbH. The project is carried out by the Chair of Small Business, Start-ups and Entrepreneurship (LEMEX) at the University of Bremen in collaboration with the Senator for Economics, Ports and Transformation. The aim is to develop innovative business and organizational concepts and thus strengthen the competitiveness of the companies involved.

Keynote and teamwork

A highlight of the Demo Day will be the keynote speech by William Chitangala, which will deal with the topic of “Future Thinking” and strategic reactions to future scenarios. The teaching format is aimed primarily at bachelor's students of all disciplines. It is possible to obtain credits for certain courses of study. Companies, startups, non-profit organizations and public institutions from the Bremen metropolitan region are also invited to actively participate in this project.

Projects as part of “future concepts bremen” start twice a year, in April and October, and last around three to four months. Interested companies are invited to submit their project outlines at any time. Leon Marquardt from LEMEX is available for further information and can be contacted on +49 421 218 – 66873 or by email at leon.marquardt@uni-bremen.de.

The importance of collaborations

The “future concepts bremen” initiative reflects the growing importance of cooperation models to promote innovation. In a dynamic economic world, such models enable the exchange of knowledge and resources between companies, startups and research institutions. The aim is to achieve technological advances and remain competitive. Collaborations are crucial to developing creative solutions that benefit companies and society.

In order to successfully implement innovations, targeted training and further education play an important role. These create an environment in which creative thinking is encouraged and new approaches can be developed. Promoting innovative ideas not only leads to new products and services becoming established on the market, but also contributes to the creation of new jobs and overcoming social challenges. Innovative partnerships with sustainability-oriented organizations create additional added value and sustainably strengthen competitiveness.

In summary, it can be said that the “future concepts bremen” project not only represents a valuable experience for the students, but also makes a significant contribution to the innovation landscape in Bremen. Through the exchange of ideas and resources, creative solutions are promoted and the basis for future-oriented economic development is laid.
