Bremen Music Festival: A night full of jazz and fiery rhythms!
The Bremen Music Festival opened on August 16, 2025 under the title “A Great Night Music”. This international festival, which was founded by Prof. Thomas Albert, takes place annually over three weeks in August and September and includes nine different venues around the Bremen market square. This includes, for example, the Forum am Domshof, which has served as the University of Bremen's new location in the city center since November 2024. Several departments as well as the law library of the Bremen State and University Library are housed here.
A highlight of the opening weekend was the appearance of Alfredo Rodriguez Quintet in the Forum at Domshof. The composer and pianist Alfredo Rodriguez, who was discovered by Quincy Jones at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2006, is considered the epitome of jazz and improvisation. His music combines elements of Latin, jazz, son, pop, tango and funk and immerses listeners in a pulsating world of sound.
Diverse program design
The Bremen Music Festival offers a diverse program of concerts that combine classical and contemporary music. In addition to the Alfredo Rodriguez Quintet, numerous other artists performed, covering a wide spectrum. This year there are a total of nine venues, each with two 45-minute concerts. The concerts take place in three time slots, each interrupted by two common breaks for meetings and exchanges.
The quintet itself is made up of talented musicians: Alfredo Rodriguez on piano and vocals, Michael Olivera on drums, Yarel Hernandez on bass guitar, Carlos Sarduy on trumpet and Alana Sinkey on vocals. This formation is an example of the high quality of the artists that can be heard at the music festival. Tickets are available at a price of 33 euros, which allows access to one of the three concerts on offer.
Support and encouragement
The Bremen Music Festival is supported not only by private sponsors, such as Mercedes-Benz AG - Plant Bremen and WESER-KURIER, but also by public bodies. The Senator for Economics, Ports and Transformation and the NORDMETALL business community support the festival to create a platform for cultural events and musical exchange.
Since its founding in 1989, the festival has developed into an important event in the music scene, attracting not only established artists but also up-and-coming talent to Bremen. Bremen offers a unique setting in which music lovers have the opportunity to get to know the latest developments in the international music scene and to experience exclusive programs that are often only offered as part of this festival in Germany.
