The University of Bremen is facing an important change in university sports. According to the University of Bremen From April 2024, the university will assume responsibility for the organization, implementation and further development of university sports. The Association for University Sports, which has carried out these tasks since 1986, will be dissolved.
The changes are intended to ensure that the extensive course offering of over 300 events in the summer semester remains accessible to students, employees and external parties in the future. All of the club's employees will be integrated into a newly founded Department 9 (university sports), which is headed by Heike Anders.

University sport enjoys high priority at the University of Bremen, which is reflected in the large number of courses on offer. This development is in line with the requirements of the Bremen Higher Education Act, which was enacted on May 9, 2007 and last amended on March 28, 2023.
