Digital platform Care4Care: Strengthen mental health for nursing staff!
The mental health of nurses is the focus of a new digital initiative developed by researchers at Leuphana University. The innovative “Care4Care” platform offers targeted training courses to improve working conditions in care facilities and at the same time support the personal health promotion of employees. Dr. Leif Boß, one of the responsible researchers, emphasizes that the platform has the potential to significantly improve the climate for mental health. This is particularly important given the ongoing shortage of skilled workers.
The platform covers a variety of topics, including the analysis of working conditions, health-oriented leadership and special training for stress management and resilience building. In addition, restful sleep despite shift work is also discussed. These approaches were evaluated as part of a study, the results of which were published in the renowned “International Journal of Nursing Studies”. Prof. Dirk Lehr emphasizes the need for novel solutions to sustainably promote the mental health of nursing staff.
Digital transformation of health promotion
The “Care4Care” platform was developed and evaluated by an interdisciplinary team from several universities. A key partner in this project is the AOK Federal Association, which is testing practical implementation in care facilities. Initial study results show that digital support through the platform in combination with personal contacts with nursing staff and individual facilities is particularly successful. This could make a significant contribution to reducing the stress levels of nurses.
The need for digitalization in healthcare is also becoming clear in the context of an upcoming online conference. The motto is “Digital Health Promotion – Self-Help 4.0 MENTAL HEALTH” and is aimed at caring relatives and specialist audiences. The event will be held at 3:00 p.m. by Prof. Dr. Gregor Hohenberg opens and includes lectures on topics such as depression in old age as well as stress and burnout, given by experts such as Dr. Katharina Geschke and Dr. Alena Rentsch will be presented.
