HafenCity University: Language courses for international students start!
The HafenCity University (HCU) in Hamburg is preparing for the winter semester 2025/26, in which it offers German language courses for international students. These courses are particularly tailored to the needs of bachelor's students, graduates in the master's or doctoral phase and foreign students who want to improve their knowledge of academic German. The courses start on October 29, 2025 and end on January 28, 2026. Those interested can register until October 23, 2025. The registration process requires careful completion of the registration form, with the possibility of indicating a preferred course.
The HCU offers both face-to-face and online courses, which ensures flexibility for participants. The content of the courses focuses on improving participants' writing skills and includes various types of texts such as creative texts, application letters and academic writing. Special attention is paid to language skills, with teaching taking place at levels from B1 to C1. A placement test is mandatory for participants who already have knowledge of German. Beginners do not have to take such a test.
Registration and conditions of participation
After registration, the request will be checked and questions about registration are possible. It is important to note that registering for a course does not guarantee a place. Places are allocated based on availability. Unexcuses also result in losing your place in the course. If there are problems or errors in the registration process, participants should send an email immediately to ensure the correct place on the course. Multiple registrations will be ignored.
The courses are designed to help students familiarize themselves with the conventions of academic writing in German. This is particularly important for international students working on term papers or research projects. The workshop nature of the courses allows participants to work on their own texts and receive immediate feedback.
Information and support
Additional information on course levels, costs and specific course registration is available on the HCU website. HCU and the other participating universities, such as Saarland University and Humboldt University of Berlin, ensure that the courses offer comprehensive support. In this way, participants can significantly improve their knowledge of spelling, grammar and style and prepare specifically for their academic goals.
