HafenCity University: Vernissage of the semester exhibition is coming up!
The Architecture study program invites you to the semester exhibition entitled SORTIMENT, which will take place from July 21st to 25th, 2025 at HafenCity University in Hamburg. The students show their final and semester projects in various design studios. The presentations are open to the public, and guests are welcome to recognize the creative output of the semester. On July 25th, the last day of the presentation week, the opening of the exhibition will take place, which begins at 3 p.m. with a symposium on the topic of “Expanding spatial practice” in the university auditorium.
Wulf Böer will give the opening lecture entitled “Resilient Structures” at 6:30 p.m. After this introductory lecture, visitors have the opportunity to view the exhibition and take part in a social exchange over drinks on the terrace party. The RANGE exhibition will remain open to the public until August 1st.
An accompanying program for anyone interested in architecture
As part of the exhibition, there is a varied accompanying program that includes an architecture dinner, the presentation of the applications for the Edeka Awards and an entertaining conclusion to the event with a quiz and Q&A. These program items aim to promote student engagement and their creative approaches in the field of architecture.
The HafenCity University: An overall architectural concept
HafenCity University is located at the heart of one of the largest urban development projects in Europe. A competition to create the building concept aims to develop a representative overall image of HafenCity Hamburg from the water. The location on the water side is characterized by a structure that is based on the urban master plan and is recognizable as a separate entity.
The developed building serves as both the starting and ending point of the “New East Axis”. A large foyer in the middle of the building connects lecture halls, thought rooms, the cafeteria, the library and other important areas, promoting communication and interaction between users. With an expressive shape and color scheme as well as a striking tower that shines into the harbor, the importance of this location for science and the public is reinforced, as [Schneider Architekten] describes.
The SORTIMENT semester exhibition is not only an opportunity for students to present their work, but also a platform to strengthen the connection between architecture and the public. The event is open to anyone interested and encourages active participation and exchange.
