Innovative mobility solutions in focus: trade fair with future projects!

The international trade fair for local public transport will take place in Hamburg from June 15th to 18th, 2025. Here, HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) and its projects HAWICC, FPOplus, BlueGreenStreets and MobiDoc present their latest research work. HCU Hamburg offers an insight into future-oriented mobility concepts.

An important focus of the event is on timetable optimization in regional transport, the climate-adapted design of road spaces and the accessibility of medical care. These issues are important not only for urban development, but also for the quality of life of citizens.

Research projects and collaborations

The FPOplus joint project, which has been running since 2023 in collaboration with the Hamburg University of Technology, the University of Lübeck and the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau, is dedicated to timetable optimization. In addition, the MobiDoc project, which began in July 2024, focuses on accessibility to medical facilities. It is carried out together with the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf.

Another exciting project is BlueGreenStreets, which has been working since 2019 to make urban street spaces climate-friendly. During the trade fair, visitors will be able to take part in keynote lectures on these topics, which will take place on June 17th in Hall A1.

The HCU stand is located in Hall A1, Stand A1700, where the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW) and the German Center for Future Mobility (DZM) are also represented. The DZM will present its work on two further projects. HAWICC develops innovative solutions such as sensors, AI-based analysis methods and 6G connectivity to improve mobility solutions.

Keynote speeches and participation

Visitors have the opportunity to register for various lectures. Among other things, there will be an impulse lecture on BlueGreenStreets from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on June 17th, a lecture by Prof. Dr. Jörg Müller-Lietzkow from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and a contribution by Dr. Ayse Glass at FPOplus will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Hall A1.

In parallel, Bosch has been developing a mobility assistant since 2017 that uses real-time data to help users navigate efficiently through the city. Bosch press aims to help commuters get to their destinations quickly and stress-free while optimizing traffic flow in cities.

Bosch is developing solutions to reduce the stress factor of finding a parking space, which causes a third of city traffic. This also includes community based parking and active parking space management. Meanwhile, the company is working on innovative logistics services to increase efficiency in freight transport. The aim is to make the car a third living environment alongside the home and office through networking.

In addition to developing driver assistance systems and new technologies for road safety, Bosch is planning comprehensive networking by the next decade that could help prevent almost one in three motorcycle accidents.

Overall, the developments and research projects presented at the trade fair show how important the integration of technology, research and practical solutions is for sustainable urban mobility.
