Jazz and its roots

Jazz itself is a musical style with deep roots that emerged in the late 19th century in African American communities in the southern United States, particularly in New Orleans. The style is the result of a fascinating fusion of African rhythms, European harmonies and American musical traditions such as blues and ragtime. This music is characterized by its joy of improvisation, rhythmic diversity and emotional expressiveness. Music nerd describes that jazz is an open and changeable sound system that encourages musicians to spontaneously create new melodies and variations.

Although jazz has a complex and layered history, it remains a central part of the culture and lifestyle of many. The exhibition in Lüneburg offers an excellent opportunity to better understand this form of art and its development. Visitors can look forward to a variety of impressions, which are complemented by sound and image productions. Leuphana speaks of the importance of preserving and reinterpreting the history of jazz, which is also clear in the selection of exhibits and accompanying events.
