Anniversary of Electrical Energy Systems: Charitable Auction in Hamburg!
On August 4, 2025, a special event took place at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. The Chair of “Electrical Energy Systems” celebrated its 20th anniversary. As part of this anniversary, an “electrifying auction” was organized, which turned out to be a complete success.
The auction brought in a remarkable 1,716.90 euros, the full amount of which was donated to the Sternenbrücke children's hospice in Hamburg. Professor Dr.–Ing. habil. Schulz, together with Messrs. Wagner and Suriya, ceremoniously presented the donation. The event was also carried out with the support of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. and the Bundeswehr Feldpost.
The Sternenbrücke children's hospice
The Children’s Hospice Sternenbrücke was founded in 2003 and offers important support for terminally ill children and adolescents as well as young adults up to 27 years of age. The goal of the hospice is to help those affected lead a dignified life until their death.
Sternenbrücke not only offers support during the illness, which in many cases can last for years, but also ensures that families receive relief offers for at least 28 days a year. During these difficult times, families receive much-needed support and the opportunity to regenerate. In addition, support continues even after the loss of a child, which is an important help for the affected families.
A look at hospice care
In the context of hospice work, this is published in November 2022 “Handbook of child and youth hospice work” of great importance. Edited by Marcel Globisch and Thorsten Hillmann, it brings together experience from affected families as well as professional insights. The handbook describes the basics and practice of child and youth hospice work in three main areas of activity: outpatient, inpatient and education.
In addition, it highlights relevant perspectives and topics for the future of hospice work and serves as a valuable reference work for practitioners and those interested in this field. The extensive work process behind the publication is evidence of the commitment to further improving the quality of support offers in child and youth hospice work.
The anniversary event at the university and the donation to the Sternenbrücke children's hospice symbolize the sense of social responsibility and networking within the community. The employees and supporters of the “Electrical Energy Systems” professorship were warmly thanked for this. Such initiatives not only mean help for those directly affected, but also raise awareness of the concerns of child and youth hospice work among the broader public.
