Future-oriented: Bucerius Compliance Officers expand training for AI

Today, June 11, 2025, 26 participants were welcomed as part of the Bucerius Compliance Officer (BCO) program, which has established itself in the legal market. This certificate program has established itself as significant in the area of compliance in recent years. The content of the training is continually being expanded to meet current challenges and developments.

The four modules of the program focus on both general and recent developments in the compliance area. Important topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) are part of the curriculum. The participants deal intensively with the use of AI tools in practice and exchange ideas about the opportunities and risks associated with these technologies. They also have the opportunity to develop and test small AI solutions.

Expansion of the program from 2026

From 2026, Bucerius Law School plans to integrate a labor law aspect into the program. This new focus will include topics such as protective duties, the design of internal procedures and cooperation with human resources departments and works councils. The aim of these additions is to ensure the protection of employees, to promote the legally compliant design of operational processes and to protect the integrity and reputation of the company.

Prof. Dr. Carsten Jungmann, Academic Director and Program Manager, emphasizes that the constant increase in participants indicates the high demand for qualified compliance training. Therefore, the future group size will be set as an upper limit to ensure high quality and stimulating discussions. The eighth round of the Bucerius Compliance Officer program will start in January 2026 and the application deadline is December 7, 2025.

Additional training opportunities in the area of AI compliance

In addition to the content of the BCO program, the TÜV Academy offers various seminars that deal with the new AI regulation as well as aspects of AI risk management and AI ethics. These seminars are offered both face-to-face and in the virtual classroom and comprise a total of 16 teaching units. The target group consists of compliance officers and practitioners who would like to deal with the implementation of AI compliance in their companies.

The seminars cover, among other things, the following content:

  • Einführung in die neue KI-Verordnung (KI-VO)
  • Chancen und Risiken von KI im Unternehmen
  • Definition und Anwendungsbereich von KI-Systemen
  • Ethischer Einsatz von KI
  • Risikomanagement und Datenmanagement
  • Pflichten im Hinblick auf Chat-Bots und synthetische Inhalte
  • Empfehlungen für Prüfung und Beurteilung von KI-Nutzung

Participants who want to receive a certificate from PersCert TÜV, TÜV Rheinland, at the end of a seminar must take an exam. For further information on admission requirements and exam content, the websites of the respective providers are available, such as bucerius-academy.de and tuv.com.
