AI of the future: Ethics lectures at THM Giessen are starting soon!
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) is leading to a point where AI systems achieve performance that is almost indistinguishable from human capabilities. In this context, the Justus Liebig University of Giessen (JLU) is organizing a series of lectures entitled “The Future of AI” in collaboration with the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM). This series starts on May 28, 2025 and addresses fundamental questions about the opportunities and risks of AI use as well as ethical challenges.
The opening event will take place at 6:15 p.m. at the THM in Gießen, with Prof. Dr. Judith Simon from the University of Hamburg will speak about the trustworthiness and ethics of AI. In addition to the ethical issues, the focus is also on how AI models work and their impact on self-image and society uni-giessen.de reported.
Ethical questions and technical developments
The challenges of AI development are diverse. All areas of life, including medicine, mobility and the world of work, are influenced by technology. While AI offers the potential to increase efficiency and address global challenges, concerns about data protection, loss of autonomy and the transparency of decisions are evident. The urgent need for ethical guidelines and responsible use of AI is highlighted in current research, such as das-wissen.de determines.
Central ethical questions such as responsibility and liability in the event of wrong decisions made by AI systems are crucial. Who is liable if an AI system makes a mistake? And how can data protection be guaranteed? technavigator.de highlights the need for ongoing societal dialogue on ethical issues to maximize the benefits of AI and minimize risks.
