New journal DIAS: Digitalization and labor law in focus!
The new magazine “DIAS – Digital Labor and Social Law” will launch on July 2, 2025. The project is launched by the University of Kassel, specifically the Department of Civil Law and Labor Law in the Digital Society, in collaboration with the Hugo Sinzheimer Institute for Labor and Social Law of the Hans Böckler Foundation. The aim of the magazine is to analyze the digitalization of the world of work from the perspective of employees and their rights.
“DIAS” aims to advance legal developments as well as academic and legal-political debates, while also influencing the formation of public opinion. The journal strives to build and network a professional community to advance critical, interdisciplinary analysis of digitalization. Reported in this context uni-kassel.de about the structure and objectives of the publication.
Structure of the magazine
“DIAS” will work on three different content levels. These include:
- Fachspezifische Beiträge im Arbeits- und Sozialrecht,
- Interdisziplinäre Diskussionen über Digitalisierung und Recht,
- Beiträge aus nachbarwissenschaftlichen Bereichen zur digitalen Arbeitswelt.
The journal will promote opinion-forming processes and bring together different levels of discussion, such as technology law and data protection. The publication will be available online and free of charge, underlining the idea of wide availability of information in the digital society.
Two editions are planned for 2025, followed by three editions from 2026. Although the format and organization are initially simply structured, it is designed to evolve. A three-year start-up phase is funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation. The magazine's publishing group decides on the acceptance of texts for publication anke.stelkens@uni-kassel.de can be submitted.
