Dual study options in Hesse

A central theme of the day of action is dual study in Hesse, which has become increasingly important in recent years. Training-integrated courses combine practical vocational training with academic studies. The training takes place in a company, while the studies take place at a university or vocational academy. The entry requirement for this is a university entrance qualification, such as the Abitur.

The dual study program offers various time models that can be organized in blocks or days, for example. Within three years, participants can acquire both a professional qualification and a bachelor's degree. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) awards various professional qualifications, including:

  • Industriekaufmann / Industriekauffrau
  • Mechatroniker / Mechatronikerin
  • Fachinformatiker / Fachinformatikerin

The Dual Studies Research Center is committed to further developing the quality of dual studies. This includes the theory-practice relationship and the development of skills within the degree programs. The scientific study “Dual studies: implementation models and development needs” is carried out by the CHE on behalf of the BMBF and looks at developments in the area of dual study programs - especially with regard to the introduction of quality networks.

Another important initiative is the “Dual Studies Hessen” campaign, which presents more than 80 dual study options from 20 educational institutions. The aim of these efforts is to further promote permeability between vocational and academic education and to illustrate the advantages of dual study.

Students and interested parties are invited on March 19th to discover the diverse study options and offers at Hessian universities and to receive personal insights from experienced fellow students.
