Diversity in architecture: Creative exhibition inspires visitors!

On July 18, 2025, the Department of Architecture, Urban and Landscape Planning at the University of Kassel will open the exhibition “Rundgang R32”. This event shows a creative and critical examination of built living spaces and offers new perspectives on designing, researching and communicating in these areas. The presentation includes student work presented in the form of drawings, models and comprehensive analysis.

The central theme of this exhibition is the exploration of diversity and sustainability. Those interested have the opportunity to take part in public tours that take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. After the tours, there is an opportunity to exchange ideas over refreshments in the documentation and media workshop doku:lab and at the ice cream truck. This initiative is led by academic and student employees from the departments of urban and regional development under the direction of Prof. Dr. Anna Growe and Prof. Dr. Frank Roost organized. Course offerings and job offers at TUM

Parallel to the opening of the exhibition, the Chair of Sustainable Urbanism at the Technical University of Munich is offering a variety of courses in both German and English in the 2025 summer semester. These events are aimed at students at both bachelor's and master's levels. In addition, the chair has published a current job offer for a research assistant (m/f/d). The position is part-time (50%) and limited to one year, with the possibility of an extension up to six years if you receive a doctorate. The Technical University of Munich recently recorded a success: TUM students won first place at the Campus Masters 2024 with their bachelor's thesis "City - Space - Hybrid - Topology of the Everyday". In addition, the Urban Transitions Lab will present the results of its projects on February 10, 2025 in Parkstadt Bogenhausen, with top-class guests including Prof. Sophie Wolfrum and architect Karl-Heinz Voggenreiter invited.

Various events and publications

The final critique of the “Lage, Lage, Lage” design studio will take place in Pavilion 333 on July 19, 2024. The chair is also contributing to the upcoming PLEA 2024 conference with an article by Julia Micklewright on system dynamic modeling for active mobility and biodiversity.

In addition, the chair organizes summer lectures in cooperation with the Church of the Resurrection in Munich's Westend on church transformations. The current course offerings for the winter semester 2024/2025 include courses in the area of ​​sustainable urbanism. The chair is also looking for student assistants from September 2023 for projects on urban green transformation and urban redevelopment.

The diversity and interdisciplinary approach of both the University of Kassel and the Technical University of Munich illustrate the universities' commitment to sustainable and creative urban and landscape design.
