Science diplomacy as a key to international cooperation
In the broader context of international research, the role of science diplomacy is also important. Loud bmftr.bund.de Science diplomacy is seen as an interface between education, science, research and international politics. The aim is to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals through international cooperation. Scientific findings influence political decisions, especially when it comes to global challenges such as climate change. This form of diplomacy promotes the exchange of ideas and knowledge between countries and supports integration into international research goals.
The BMFTR also advocates for the freedom of science, research and teaching and supports scientists at risk. Strengthening international research collaborations is a central component of future research strategies. With a total of 48 partnerships for scientific and technological cooperation and numerous agreements, Germany aims to play a leading role in the global science network.
