On October 25, 2025, the Zoological Collection of the University of Rostock will celebrate its 250th anniversary with a special open day. On this historic date, all interested parties are invited to enjoy the varied offers and programs available from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entry is free and promises to be a unique experience for visitors of all ages uni-rostock.de reported.
The event not only includes tours of the display magazine and a special exhibition, but also many interactive activities. This includes animal face painting and animal drawing for children. In fact, there will be a particular focus on biodiversity, including the presentation of a special biodiversity wall. In the evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will also be a ceremony in the university auditorium, during which a newly designed “Africa” themed room will be opened. A look into history
The Zoological Collection was founded in 1775 by Oluf Gerhard Tychsen and has since developed into one of the oldest and most important institutions at the University of Rostock. With over 20,000 visitors received annually, the collection is a central cultural attraction in Rostock.
