The 2025 mining history colloquium will deal with the topic “From the mountain school to the technical university” and is of historical importance. The Upper Harz silver mining industry was in an economic crisis in the 18th century, which led to the founding of a mining school in 1775 at the Clausthal Lyceum. This development resulted in the elevation to the Mining Academy in 1864. The history of TU Clausthal pays homage to important personalities and knowledge transfers in the region.

In addition, there is a broad supporting program that covers both science and cultural life in Clausthal-Zellerfeld. During the anniversary days there will also be a live broadcast of the ceremony on June 21st. There is a participation fee of 50 euros for the colloquium, which includes meals. Information about the event is available on the Technical University website.

The series of publications on the Harz mining industry, which deals with the development of the mining industry in the Harz, provides further resources and is part of a research project funded by the state of Lower Saxony. The previous publications shed light on the history of the mining heritage up to the end of mining in the 20th century.
