Exciting innovations in mobility planning at TU Braunschweig!

Today, June 6, 2025, exciting developments are coming up at the Technical University of Braunschweig. The German Research Foundation (DFG) has announced funding for a new Collaborative Research Center (SFB) for mobility planning. The SFB/TRR “AgiMo: Data-supported agile planning for responsible mobility” is being implemented with the active participation of the TU Braunschweig. In this context, Prof. Vanessa Miriam Carlow, together with the SpACE Lab at the Institute for Urban Development and Regional Planning (ISU), brings innovative urban planning and participatory perspectives.

Another important event is the 30th anniversary of the partnership between the University of Rhode Island (USA) and TU Braunschweig. To mark this anniversary, special events begin today and will be broadcast live on YouTube. The University of Rhode Island offers internationally recognized programs, including unique double majors and interdisciplinary minors. The institution receives around 25,000 first-semester applications annually and accepts around 3,300 new students, with 24% of first-semester students having a migration background. The median GPA for admitted freshmen is between 3.2 and 4.1. These successes demonstrate the university's high status in the international education sector uri.edu reported.

A variety of activities and events

There are several events coming up at TU Braunschweig in the coming weeks, including the CampusXperience: Summervibes Festival, which will take place on June 21st from 3 p.m. on Campus North. This free day festival is aimed at students, employees and external guests and also offers activities for children. An interactive “augmented reality sandbox” will also be on display at the festival, which illustrates the water flow and terrain.

The concert and lecture series “TIME” on June 13th in the Audimax invites you to a discussion about time between science and society. On June 23rd, Prof. Carmen Leicht-Scholten from RWTH Aachen University will give a lecture on gender in MINT research as part of the “Research in Dialogue” series. At the same time, the Green Office is organizing virtual lunch breaks with 20-minute inputs on sustainable higher education from June 12th.

Research and networks

In the area of research, the TU Braunschweig is also driving forward important projects. The Center for Pharmaceutical Process Engineering (PVZ) was expanded to include a modern plate separator from the GEA Group. This investment enables a complete biotechnology value chain and strengthens the university's importance in biotechnology.

An exciting initiative is the Fulbright scholarship, which enables TU doctoral student Lisa-Katharina Möhlen to study school inclusion in the USA at 35 schools in eight states. This underlines the international orientation of research at TU Braunschweig.

In addition, the university's research service takes part in the “European Higher Education Fair” (EHEF 2025) in Japan. This event serves to network students and doctoral candidates and supports the university's international relations. The University of Hamburg is also active in terms of networking: since 2012, it has been building a sustainable network of international partner universities as part of its internationalization strategy, which consists of long-term collaboration between research and teaching. Details about this and other activities can be found at uni-hamburg.de.

The upcoming events will conclude with the University Information Day on June 13th, for the preparation and implementation of which the TU Braunschweig would like to thank everyone involved, as well as a comprehensive calendar of events that provides ongoing information about lectures, discussions and concerts.
