Review of the previous day: Explore interesting facts
An inspiring event took place in the University Library (UB) on Monday, June 16, 2025. Under the motto "Explore what you need to know. From the mountain to the stars", a series of activities were offered to promote knowledge about the university and its history.
One of the highlights of the day was the opening of the exhibition “10 Objects on the History of the Mining Academy” by the UB director Silke Frank, which was implemented by Theresa Haars and Jochen Brinkmann. This exhibition enabled visitors to gain deeper insights into the history of the university. There were also various themed walks and lectures, including a lecture by Dr. Ariane Walsdorf on Leibniz's work in the Upper Harz, which met with great interest.
Diverse program and interactive experiences
On Monday there was also a sky observation with Hendrik Millner from the St. Andreasberg Observatory. An escape room game and a book scavenger hunt were offered to visitors, encouraging creative thinking and teamwork. These activities took place in the university library and on the first floor of the catalog room.
The tours on the architectural history of older university buildings, led by Jan Fortunski and Teresa Haars, also attracted great interest and attracted around 20 participants. Another highlight was the announced pub quiz for the 250th anniversary, which was to take place at 8 p.m. in the cafeteria of the university library.
Participants can look forward to further events planned for the following days, such as lectures on the Calvörschen Library and a concert with Arno Janssen.
