Digital city rally for the quantum year: Discover the Knowledge Forum!

The Knowledge Forum in Göttingen is offering an exciting digital city rally together with physics students from the University of Göttingen. This is part of the special exhibition "What the Quant?! The exhibition on the quantum year 2025", which opens on March 27, 2025 and lasts until October 5, 2025. The initiative aims to educate the public about quantum mechanics and its relevance in modern technology. Loud uni-goettingen.de Anyone interested can take part in the rally until the end of October 2025 using the free “Actionbound” app.

The start and end point of the rally is the Knowledge Forum, which also serves as an information center. The digital rally takes place at six stations that offer insights into the fascinating world of quantum mechanics. Thematic focus is on the history of quantum mechanics as well as aspects of chemistry and astrophysics. Playful tasks and puzzles make conveying the content interactive and entertaining.

Special exhibition and events

The exhibitions present the emergence of quantum mechanics 100 years ago and its influence on current technological advances. Particular emphasis is placed on the collaboration between scientists at the University of Göttingen, the birthplace of this important physical theory. The organizers are also the German Physical Society e.V. Numerous events will be offered as part of the quantum year 2025, under the motto “Quantum2025 – 100 years are just the beginning…”. These include a quiz about the exhibition and various “chalk talks” in which experts give lectures on specific topics.

The special exhibition will also include interactive elements to actively involve visitors in the subject matter. Hands-on experiments on quantum physics and creative contributions from young people are planned. In addition, artistic elements are integrated to make quantum mechanics tangible in different ways.

Additional offers

After the rally, participants have the opportunity to visit the interactive special exhibition on quantum mechanics. Wi-Fi is available in the Knowledge Forum to download the app and the data required for the rally. Information and flyers about the exhibition are available at the information counter. The forum's opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The German Museum in Munich and the “phaeno” science museum in Wolfsburg complement the quantum year with their own exhibitions and programs. An exhibition about the interactions between light and matter is running in the Deutsches Museum, while the “phaeno” is offering experimental stations on quantum technology on World Quantum Day, April 14, 2024. Visitors can interactively experience the wonderful phenomena of the quantum world, while interactive works of art such as “Quantum Jungle” by artist Robin Baumgarten will playfully convey the properties of quantum deutschland.de reported.

For insights into the latest developments in quantum mechanics and their applications, we recommend visiting the special exhibition and the digital rally in the Knowledge Forum, which is both entertaining and educational.
